Mapping unequal access to public services
Urban Spatial Observatory
at Georgetown University
We are an interdisciplinary research group made up of faculty, researchers and students from Georgetown University, Brown University and Center for Policy Research. The team of social scientists are from Information Studies, Urban Planning, Sociology, Economics, Public Policy, Anthropology and Data Science. We partner with NGOs, activist groups and the government.
Our goal is to use socio-spatial data to investigate the political and administrative forces that have shaped unequal urban development and outcomes.
COVID-19
Lockdown Update
The Urban Spatial Observatory project shared some of its resources publicly in clear, accessible formats embedded with geo coordinates to let everyone use maps in times of crisis without limiting information to any one form or platform. Throughout this lockdown period we plan to keep publishing updated maps and use our public services dataset to help in the fight against COVID 19.
